Aurora, Colorado is located in Adams and Arapahoe Counties, Aurora is adjacent to the City of Denver. It is the third largest city in Colorado. Aurora is bordered by Denver, Centennial, Endlewood, Parker and Commerce City. Aurora is located a convenient 15 minutes away from (DIA) Denver International Airport.
As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 276,900.
Aurora's climate is mild and dry, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, offering residents and visitors ample opportunity to get outside, stay fit and enjoy all that Colorado living has to offer.
Aurora is the location of the former Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, and is the birthplace of 2004 Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry. The Fitzsimons site is now under redevelopment as the campus of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and Hospital, which are relocating there from Denver, and the Colorado Bioscience Park Aurora. These facilities will employ a workforce of 32,000 at build-out.
